Human-Environmental Dynamics Archaeologist. The Department of Anthropology at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in the archaeology of human-environmental dynamics beginning in Fall 2015. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field, a proven record of excellent publication, potential for securing external research funding, and expertise in environmental archaeology.  Specialty interests may include GIS, paleoethnobotany, archaeometry, geoarchaeology, zooarchaeology, or other skills that complement existing departmental strengths. Regional focus is open. Excellent teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels is necessary, including general anthropology courses as well as upper division courses in areas of expertise. Ability to teach quantitative data analysis is desirable. The successful candidate will join and contribute to the recently established interdisciplinary Area of Excellence: The SDSU Center for Climate and Sustainability Studies (C2S2).

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ohio University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the area of Archaeobotany of North America, specializing in food, domestication, indigenous societies, and diet in the Ohio region. The successful candidate will teach upper-division courses on archaeobotany, ethnobotany, prehistoric human diet, origins of food production, archaeological and archaeobotanical laboratory methods, and prehistoric human landscape modification, as well as introductory anthropology courses. The successful candidate will also carry primary responsibility for the summer Field School in Ohio Archaeology. Anthropology faculty teach two courses per semester.

Eastern New Mexico University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology position or temporary one-year Instructor of Anthropology beginning August 2014.  We seek a Southwest archaeologist able to teach ceramic analysis.  We prefer someone who is a materialist with an active research agenda and a solid background in quantitative methods or GIS.  The successful candidate must be willing to run a summer field school in alternate summers.  Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their Ph.D. by August 2014.  Our program has a strong graduate component, and candidates must be willing to help supervise Master’s theses.

The Department of Anthropology, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in archaeology at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2015.

We seek a scholar with a research focus in evolutionary cognitive archaeology.  Teaching responsibilities include a core introductory archaeology course, upper division courses in areas of expertise, and a four-field senior capstone course by faculty rotation. The position includes the opportunity to contribute to the UCCS Center for Cognitive Archaeology through research, online teaching, and course development. Preference will be given to scholars with an active research programwho employ cognitive models in their research.
