Help Expand Annual Meeting Access!

Nov 22, 2021
The SAA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the new Meeting Access Fund, created in response to the pandemic and to promote equity in meeting attendance. The Meeting Access Fund is designed to help members overcome financial challenges they may face when trying to participate in the SAA annual meeting.

The annual meeting provides an important opportunity to expand our networks and share research while enhancing our professional profiles. Improving access for members at all stages of their involvement in archaeology is one of our immediate priorities.

The primary use for this fund is to support annual meeting participation by members who might not otherwise be able to attend. This support can be used for any meeting-related expense such as registration, travel, or childcare. A task force is currently working to establish the specific procedures for accessing support. Administration of this fund would be through a newly created meeting accessibility grant committee.

Many of our members have made generous contributions to our other funds in the past, and we thank you all. What we are asking now is that you consider making a special contribution to help us get the Meeting Access Fund up and running. This fund is designed as a rapid response to an immediate need. Please help us make this significant initiative a reality.
