SAA Announces 2020 Award Recipients

Apr 24, 2020

The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2020 awards.

The Society for American Archaeology Awards recognize and honor knowledge and professional achievements at all career levels--from student and early career archaeologists to those who have made lasting contributions to the Society and the profession.

SAA award recipients are selected by dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer committees made up of SAA members—one for each award.

Although the Society was forced to cancel its 2020 physical meeting in Austin as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still important that we honor these winners and, more than ever, continue to help our community. Below is a recording of the 2020 Ceremonial Resolutions read by Paul Welch, 2020 Award winners read by SAA president Joe Watkins, and remarks by SAA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Larry J. Zimmerman.  Please take a few minutes to view the 2020 Awards Ceremony. The full citations for the 2020 SAA Awards are in the SAA 85th Annual Meeting Program beginning on page 11.
