Help Support Economic Stimulus Legislation
Many of SAA's members own, operate, or
work for small businesses in the field of cultural resources management. As
with nearly all occupations, the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus is
significantly disrupting and damaging livelihoods. One of the provisions of the
CARES Act is direct aid to small businesses via the Paycheck Protection Program
(PPP)--the section of the stimulus bill that establishes crisis loans and
grants to enable businesses and 501(c)(3) nonprofits to keep employees on the
payroll.
There is
discussion about preparing another stimulus bill ("Phase
4"). The intent will apparently be to enhance the PPP and
unemployment initiatives put forth in the earlier legislation. This is a key
opportunity for SAA's members and others to weigh in on the crafting of
this next round of legislation.
Through SAA’s Take Action portal, you can let your federal legislators know how
important enhanced PPP and unemployment initiatives are to the
sustainability of your business and well being of your
employees. Go to the SAA Take Action portal and click on the "Support
Economic Stimulus" field. You will be taken to a page with an editable
template automatically addressed to your senators and representative,
where you can provide your thoughts and information and send them directly to
your elected officials. You can also read revised guidance on the PPP at our
Positions and Actions page.
